The Ulrich bribery trial
Eric Ulrich, Eric Adams' former buildings commissioner, is the first Adams-era corruption case to reach trial, three years after his arrest. Prosecutors say he took more than $150,000 in cash and gifts, including Mets tickets, in exchange for favors such as lifting a vacate order on a bakery. His defense says the money fed a gambling habit and was not bribery.

Ulrich's bench trial opened before Manhattan Judge Daniel Conviser on charges he traded favors, including lifting a vacate order on Fortunato Brothers bakery and speeding a reinspection of Aldo's pizzeria in Ozone Park, for cash and Mets season tickets. His lawyer David Jason Cohen conceded he took money from friends but said it fed gambling at Resorts World, and he faces up to 15 years if convicted.
