Gov. Hochul and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez held a rare joint event at Fishkill Farms in Dutchess County to back Hochul's one-year pause on permits for data centers drawing 50 megawatts or more, with the election a month out [7].
The state Democratic Committee Hochul controls moved $10 million into her campaign, legal because party committees can take $138,600 from a donor while a governor's race caps gifts at $9,000; Blakeman has drawn about $3.5 million from the Nassau GOP the same way [15].
HUD says it will replace expiring Emergency Housing Vouchers with long-term Tenant Protection Vouchers starting in December, which could keep 6,273 city households in their apartments [58].
The Finance Department pushed the pied-à-terre tax exemption deadline to Oct. 13, its third date, citing the lawsuits over the rollout; 9,300 applications are in and 5,200 approved [63].

Mayor Mamdani and Commissioner Jessica Tisch released the nine-month numbers Tuesday: major crime fell in every borough, with the Bronx down most [46]. More than half of confirmed hate crimes targeted Jewish New Yorkers [46]. Subway crime was essentially flat, up 0.9% [46].

The Yankees have to win three straight

Four errors, three unearned runs and a 5-2 loss in Tampa left the Yankees down 0-2 to the Rays, with Game 3 at Yankee Stadium tonight.

The Yankees made three errors in the first inning alone, and two more misplays in the fifth turned a 1-1 game into a four-run Rays inning [194]. The capper was a two-run single by Richie Palacios, who grew up a Yankees fan in Brooklyn and went to Berkeley Carroll [193]. Ben Rice homered twice for the only Yankee runs [200]. The forecast for Game 3 calls for highs near 70 after a cold night [104].

“We've got to get over it. We've responded all year to difficult times, and we've got to do that again.”

Bus lanes for Bay Parkway and Cropsey Avenue

DOT started painting bus lanes on Bay Parkway from Avenue J to Shore Parkway and on Cropsey Avenue to 26th Avenue, routes that carry 85,000 riders a day.

The redesign serves the B6 and B82 through Midwood, Borough Park, Bensonhurst and Bath Beach, where buses on Bay Parkway crawl as slowly as 3 mph, about walking speed [78]. DOT is using offset lanes, set off the curb so parking survives, and curbside lanes where blocks need room for left-turn bays [78]. It also re-times meters and adds loading zones to make up for lost curb space [78].

“This redesign will increase bus speeds and reliability on two of Brooklyn's busiest bus routes while better organizing traffic on two of the highest-crash corridors in the borough,”

Bryan Reisberg started carrying his dog Maxine around the subway in a backpack, and when he couldn't find a bag he trusted, he quit his job and designed one; it sold out in four minutes [155]. When Maxine was put on crate rest last year, a friend suggested he take shelter dogs out instead.
