The Interborough Express

The MTA released station designs for the $5.5 billion Interborough Express, an 18-station light rail line running on existing freight tracks from the Brooklyn Army Terminal to Roosevelt Avenue in Queens, projected to carry 160,000 daily riders in 32 minutes. Only half the project's funding is identified through the MTA's current capital plan, and a draft Environmental Impact Statement due this fall will open public meetings for Brooklyn and Queens residents to weigh in before the line, New York's first new transit line since 1937, can move toward construction.
